* Microsoft Word is a relatively unstable program when it comes to printing. Further, it cannot color separate. Do not use Microsoft Word for color print jobs or for jobs where location on the page is critical.
Graphic File Formats
Following are the acceptable graphic file formats. These are the formats for graphics that you will link or embed into your layout file. You can also use just a graphic file for your print job.
| EPS | Encapsulated PostScript. This is a common graphic and layout format, especially with the more professional layout programs. |
| TIFF | Tagged-Image File Format, used for graphic files. |
| BMP | Bitmap. A graphic format for Windows. |
| Portable Document Format, the format read by Acrobat Reader and specifically designed for printing. | |
| AI | Adobe Illustrator. |
| PS | PostScript. Typically, postscript file formats are generated when you print to a file. |
| PICT | A graphic format for Mac. |
| GIF | Graphics Interchange Format |
| JPEG or JPG | Joint Photographic Experts Group. |
Fonts
All fonts are not created the same. Most fonts have a file for the way they display on your screen and another file for how they print. Because the printing presses at BizPrint have specific requirements, some fonts are better than others.
Type 1 (or PostScript fonts)
Preferred. This font type is preferred by all printers and service bureaus because they are designed for the printing process.
TrueType
These inexpensive and popular fonts can cause problems when printing or give unexpected results.
